What I collect, and what happens to it
Short version: two forms, both of which email me. No tracking, no advertising pixels, nothing sold to anyone, ever.
Who is asking
Vilano Kayak Fishing Co., a one-person guided kayak fishing service operating around Vilano Beach & St. Augustine, Florida. Questions about any of this go to bookings@vilanokayakfishing.com.
The trip request form
When you request a trip I collect your name, email address, phone number if you give one, the dates you are considering, which trip you want, how many anglers, your experience level, and anything you write in the notes.
It is used for one thing: to answer you and plan the trip. It is emailed to me and a copy is emailed to you.
The release of liability
This one collects more, because it has to. It asks for the participant's full legal name, date of birth, mailing address, phone number and email; an emergency contact and their phone number; the trip date; and a medical disclosure — conditions, medications and allergies. If the participant is under 18 it also collects the parent or guardian's name, relationship and signature.
When you submit it, the site also records the date and time, your IP address, and your browser's user-agent string. Those three exist to make the signature evidentiary — they are what shows a specific person agreed to a specific version of the text at a specific moment.
The medical information is used for exactly one purpose: so that I know what to watch for and what to do if something goes wrong an hour from the nearest road. It is not shared with anyone, other than emergency medical personnel treating you, in an emergency.
Where it goes, and how long it is kept
This site has no database. Nothing you submit is stored on the website or on any server I control. Both forms send email and nothing else.
The email is delivered through Resend, which processes it in transit, and lands in a private Google-hosted mailbox that only I read. Your signed release also arrives as a PDF attachment — one to me, one to you.
I keep signed releases for as long as a claim could reasonably be brought, which in Florida can be several years, because that is the entire point of holding one. Trip requests get deleted once they are stale. If you want your records deleted sooner, ask — though note I may decline for a signed release specifically, since deleting it would defeat why it exists.
What this site does not do
- No analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party trackers of any kind
- No cookies are set by this site — which is why there is no cookie banner
- Nothing is sold, rented, or shared with marketers
- You are not added to a mailing list; you will only ever get replies about your trip
Fonts are served by Google Fonts at build time and bundled with the site, so your browser does not call out to Google when you load a page.
Children
Anglers under 18 can only be signed up by a parent or legal guardian, and it is the guardian who submits the form. I do not knowingly collect anything from a child directly.
Your choices
You can ask me what I hold about you, ask for a copy, or ask me to delete it — email bookings@vilanokayakfishing.com and I will answer honestly. You can also simply not use the forms: my contact details are on the site and a text message books a trip just as well.
Changes
If this notice changes materially I will say so here rather than quietly editing it. The release of liability carries its own version number, and the exact text you agreed to is reproduced in the PDF you were sent.
